Safety and Trust Policy

How we keep stays, hires, rides and jobs safe — and what we ask of you.

1. Our principles

GoBro is built on verified identities, accurate listings, written contracts and a record of what was agreed. Safety comes before a booking going ahead.

2. Verification

Members can verify their identity with a government-issued document. Document images are deleted within 30 days after verification; only the result is kept. Verified profiles carry a badge.

3. Accurate listings

Listings are manually reviewed before publication. Photos must show the actual property, vehicle or work, and known faults must be disclosed.

4. Communication on the platform

Keep messages on GoBro. Messaging opens once the payment is validated and both parties have signed the contract, and the conversation becomes evidence if there is a problem.

5. Personal safety

Meet in a visible place where you can, tell someone where you are going, and stop if you feel unsafe. You can cancel without penalty where continuing would put someone at risk.

6. Vehicle safety

Vehicles must be roadworthy, registered and insured by the owner. Check licence, fuel policy, damage and the insurance excess before you drive away, and take the before photos.

7. Accommodation safety

Accommodation must have working smoke alarms, safe access and the amenities described. Report anything unsafe before you settle in.

8. Rides

Rides on GoBro are cost-sharing carpooling between people making the same trip. They are not a paid passenger transport service, and drivers must not make a profit from a ride.

9. Jobs

Jobs must be lawful, safely performed and correctly described. Anyone offering work is responsible for their own licences, equipment and insurance.

10. Reporting

Use the report button on a listing, a profile or a message, or the "Oops, a problem?" button on the booking. Reports are read by the team.

11. Emergencies

In an emergency, call 000 first. GoBro is not an emergency service. Tell us afterwards so we can act on the account and preserve the evidence.

12. Payment and deposit

Secure card payment (Stripe) is the recommended way to pay on GoBro and protects both sides: the service amount and the service fee are confirmed straight away, and nobody has to carry cash on the day. The card processing cost is included in the service fee, so there is no card surcharge.

The security deposit is taken as a card hold. Your bank records an authorisation for the deposit amount and no money leaves your account. The hold is released automatically 7 days after the service ends when no dispute is open, and is captured, in full or in part and never above the deposit amount, only if the GoBro team decides so after a dispute or evidenced damage. Every release or capture is logged and both members are notified.

Bank transfer (alternative) remains available. You transfer the total, including the deposit, with your transaction number as the reference; we check the transfer manually within 24 business hours and the deposit is returned after the service if no dispute is opened.

13. Fraud prevention

Never pay outside the platform, never share codes or passwords, and be wary of anyone pushing you to move the conversation elsewhere or to pay urgently.

14. Suspicious behaviour

Tell us about pressure tactics, changing prices, refusal to sign the contract, or a profile that does not match the person. We can hold the payment while we look into it.

15. Prohibited activities

  • Unlicensed or unlawful services.
  • Weapons, drugs or dangerous goods.
  • Discrimination, harassment or threats.
  • Sub-letting or re-hiring without the owner's permission.

16. Reviews and reporting

Reviews after a completed booking help other members choose. Reviews that are false, abusive or off-topic can be removed, and serious content is escalated to the team.

17. Restrictions and cooperation with authorities

We can restrict, suspend or close an account for safety reasons, and we cooperate with law enforcement and regulators where the law requires or permits it.

Evidence connected to an incident — photos, messages, contracts — is preserved for 7 years.

18. Limits of GoBro's role

GoBro is a marketplace. We verify, document and hold payments, but we are not present during the service and we are not an insurer, a transport operator or an employer.

19. Contact and date

hello@gobro.com.au, or complaints@gobro.com.au for a formal complaint. Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm AWST. This version applies from 5 September 2026.
