Payments and Fees
What you pay, when, and how the money moves between the person booking, GoBro and the provider.
1. Payment methods
Secure card payment (Stripe) is the recommended method and is treated as the standard way to pay on GoBro: the service amount and the service fee are paid by card and confirmed immediately. There is no card surcharge — the card processing cost is included in the GoBro service fee.
Where a listing requires a security deposit and the booking is paid by card, the deposit is taken as a card hold: GoBro requests an authorisation from your card issuer for the deposit amount and no money is debited. The authorisation stays in place for the duration of the booking and is released automatically once the release period set by GoBro has passed with no dispute open (7 days by default). GoBro may capture part or all of the held amount, never more than the deposit, only where the GoBro team decides so after a dispute or after damage is evidenced by the before and after photos; the reason is given to both members and the decision is logged.
Bank transfer (alternative) remains available. The person booking transfers the total, including any deposit, to the GoBro account using the unique reference shown on the booking. Transfers in Australia usually arrive immediately; GoBro checks the receipt manually within 24 business hours. The deposit paid this way is held separately and returned after the service if no dispute is opened.
2. Platform fees
GoBro charges one service fee per booking. There are no sign-up fees and no listing fees on the free plan.
3. Provider fees
Providers pay no per-booking fee. They receive the price shown on their listing. Optional paid subscriptions exist for professional features and are billed separately.
4. Commission
The service fee is 15% of the booking amount. It is added to the amount paid by the person booking and shown as a single line before payment.
5. Minimum fee
The service fee is never less than AUD 10.
6. GST
Where GoBro is registered for GST, GST of 10% applies to the service fee only, and your receipt is issued as a tax invoice. Where GoBro is not registered, no GST is charged on the fee and no tax invoice is issued.
8. Confirmation
Once the payment is validated and both parties have signed the contract, the booking is confirmed and messaging opens.
9. Refunds
Refunds follow our Cancellation and Refund Policy and are paid back by the original payment method within 10 business days of the decision.
10. Chargebacks
Please contact us before starting a chargeback — most problems are resolved faster through a complaint. If a chargeback is opened, we hold the related amount and provide the contract, photos and messages to the card provider.
11. Failed payments
If a payment fails, the booking stays unconfirmed and the dates are not held. You can try again from the booking page.
12. Currency
All amounts on GoBro are in Australian dollars (AUD).
13. Payment provider
Card payments are processed by Stripe. Payouts to providers use Stripe Connect or bank transfer.
14. Storage of payment information
GoBro never stores your card number. Stripe handles card data. We keep the amount, the status and a reference.
15. Security
Payments run over encrypted connections and card details are handled by a certified payment provider. Never send card details in a message or to the assistant.
16. GoBro holds the amount until completion
GoBro holds the booking amount until the service is complete, and the deposit either as a card hold or, for bank transfers, separately from the booking amount. This protects both sides and removes the need to pay in cash on the day.
17. When providers are paid
The provider is paid within 48 hours after our team validates both completion photos — the ones taken before and after the service — by Stripe Connect or bank transfer.
The deposit is returned to the person who booked once the service is complete and no dispute has been opened: the card hold is released automatically after the release period (7 days by default), or the transferred amount is paid back.
18. Disputed transactions
While a dispute is open, the amount held is not released. The GoBro team decides how it is released based on the contract, the photos and the evidence, and both parties confirm with their username.
